A genetic profile contains the unique DNA sequence information for each person. It is like a unique numerical ID.
First, DNA is extracted from the provided biological sample. Then, a technique called PCR is used to amplify specific parts of the DNA, known as markers or loci. Each locus has parts of DNA inherited from the mother and father, called alleles, identified by numbers. The combination of these alleles from different markers makes up a person’s genetic profile.
